Challenging 1st stage accomplished! Leaving Zubiri / 1a etapa conseguida. Saliendo de Zubiri

Well... We are in Zubiri, we made it yesterday! Last night the Wi-Fi at this albergue was evidently out of commission, so I wasn't able to post anything. We are getting ready to leave now, so... Just another short update.

Yesterday's stage was challenging. Very challenging. But we did it. Lots of STEEP climbing (10-12%), not too few stretches of loose rock (going up AND going down, both challenging), but great views and friendly weather. Many beautiful free-roaming horses, fields, mountains, valleys, rocks... Enchanting areas of fog, not much sun, no rain. I'll take it.

The downhills after Roncesvalles were also very tiring, as one has to keep standing on pedals, applying breaks, balancing and paying constant attention.

But all in all, it was a great first stage (etapa). We are ready for more. We're aiming to reach Puente la Reina. Well see you in 50 km.
_____________
